The road known as “Route 32” that cuts through the beautiful Braulio Carrillo National Park in Costa Rica is famous for its stunning views, but also for a constant challenge: landslides and mudslides.
Because of the hilly terrain and heavy rainfall in the region, it’s pretty common for this road to get hit by landslides that completely block it. When that happens, travelers gotta pull over and chill while the authorities hustle to clear the road.
These incidents can cause some major delays, sometimes making folks wait for hours before the road is back open. Despite the ongoing efforts to keep the road clear, the unpredictable nature of landslides in this area makes Route 32 a driving experience that requires caution and flexibility from travelers.
Sadly, today on October 13, 2024, around 8 pm, there was a landslide that messed up several vehicles. Just an hour before, some folks were warning about heavy rains, road flooding, and poor visibility, underlining how crucial it is to pay attention to the weather conditions when cruising on this road that’s so prone to landslides.
